I like to write. I like to write about the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. I enjoy reading blog posts that relate to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ (whether in favor or in opposition, though the blogs that oppose the gospel of Jesus Christ bring a far different kind of enjoyment). While reading, I will often feel prompted to write. Until know, I have stored these writings on Google Drive and shared the via social media. It wasn't bad, but my wife (brilliantly inspired) suggested that I compile my writings onto a blog where people could more easily view them. So, here we are.
The title of this blog derives from at least three general conference quotes, two of them real. The first of these is Elder Bednar's October 2011 talk, The Hearts of the Children Shall Turn, where he said our "fingers have been trained to text and tweet to accelerate and advance the work of the Lord." The second is President Uchtdorf's April 2011 talk, Waiting on the Road to Damascus, where he said, "My dear young friends, perhaps the Lord’s encouragement to “open [your] mouths” might today include “use your hands” to blog and text message the gospel to all the world!" The third is a hybrid quote between the two and it's what I thought President Uchtodorf actually said in 2011. My version of quote goes something like this, "My dear young friends, we need to use our hands to text and tweet the gospel of Jesus Christ." Had I realized that President Uchtdorf actually mentioned blogging I would have started this blog forever ago. Actually it was Elder Bednar's words (which I erroneously attributed to Presdent Uchtdor) that convinced me to get a Twitter account. I should mention here that I am really not as pharisaic I making it seem right now; at least I don't think I am. I do understand "the spirit of the law" concept.
As I start this blog, I realize that most of my readers will be friends and family members who share my faith, but I also want to write you friends and family who don't share my faith. And, in one way or another, I hope that anyone who ever visits this blog will consider yourself part of one of those two groups. As closed minded as I may seem in some of my writings or actions from time to time, I do wish the best for you. Indeed, my desires mirror those of Nephi who "pray[ed] the Father in the name of Christ that many of us, if not all, may be saved in his kingdom at that great and last day" (2 Nephi 33:12), and I do fervently hope and believe that "all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel" (Articles of Faith 1:3), whether sooner or later.
Please, read, reflect, and share with me your ideas. I looking forward to hearing from you.
